Hypnotherapy - To Help You to be Your Best... When it Matters
Based nr Wrexham & Chester, and online.

So, you know you're fast, strong, good at your job, knowledgeable, that you've revised well and that everything is in place to pass that driving test, exam, job interview.... or bust that PB, and yet, when it matters, anxiety rears it's head and impairs your performance......

Interviewers Make Up Their Minds In 6 Seconds!

Confidence and self control can communicate their presence or absence in a fraction of a second, which could be critical in an interview situation, or if delivering an important speech,,,,,,, confidence and self control can also be the defining factors in more extended performance related situation, like your driving test, an exam,  or in the sports arena.

Hypnotherapy - What to Expect

Alan will arrange for you to come along for a one hour Initial Consultation (IC). At this consultation, you will have the opportunity to meet Alan, and decide if you would feel comfortable working with him.

He will assess the impact anxiety is having on your performance, and explain in detail how he would help, which gives you the means to make an informed decision. There is no hypnosis used in the IC, and chaperones are welcomed.

If you decide to go ahead, you can discuss a variety of different approaches that Alan will describe. Because performance doesn't usually form part of a 'clinical' presentation, there is a lot more flexibility in how it can be approached and packages can be agreed that fit your requirements.

Whilst Alan will use Solution Focused techniques, as always, he will also employ more traditional approaches, in particular, visualisation (techniques known as Reframing and Future Pacing), direct suggestion and repetition.

Some people will be looking for a short course of sessions leading up to a specific event, others may be aiming to treat the sessions as rather like a 'mental' gym, and Alan has clients who visit at often long intervals, on an ongoing basis, seeing Hypnotherapy as part of their training regime.

    How 'Nerves' Affect Performance

The feeling that we know as anxiety (or stress or worrying) is generated by the chemicals the body produces in response to the brain's interpretation of events (and our brain responds to our thoughts in the same way as events).

When we worry about things going wrong, or ruminate on things that went wrong in the past, we are stimulating our brain's primitive emotional responses that occur because the brain thinks we need to be protected from danger.... in effect, we're using our imaginations to frighten ourselves about something that may never happen, or something that can never be changed.... this is exhausting, and has negative effects;
  • We feel and look tired.....
  • We're quick to upset, anger, or give up.....
  • We can be indecisive.. "what if...."
  • We can be negative.. "I'll never manage that".... "there will be somebody better than me"
  • We can become preoccupied
  • When the event actually comes along, we actually really do worse than we should have, which is no surprise, after all we've rehearsed for failure so many times...
